 Let's start...I've been involved in an accident! 

Accidents happen.  We see it everyday.  What do you do?  There are legal and financial decisions that you need to make as well as getting your vehicle repaired.  Before contacting your insurance company be informed of your rights, choices, and costs in order to make an educated decision about your vehicle and your finances.   You need to know the truth.

Public Safety, Collision repair facilities, Insurance companies, and/or Dealerships may report your accident to CARFAX or other reporting agencies.  CARFAX retrieves information whenever a police report is filed.  Police reports are public information and provided upon request.  Auger's will not provide information to CARFAX.  CARFAX is not a merit based reporting system and it can effect your trade-in value and the resale value of your vehicle regardless of repairs or severity.

You choose who repairs your vehicle.  You do not have to get three estimates so your insurance company can settle on the lowest cost.

You should be careful and decide whether to give power of attorney to your insurance company to manage your repairs or accept a repair facility owned by an insurance company. It could be a conflict of interest.  Read your policy before you choose a "Pro, Select, Express, Concierge, or Dependable" course of repair.  These are catch words that will direct you to a shop that may be in a contract to repair your vehicle that conflicts with your standards no matter how good it sounds.   

Your insurance company is not responsible for repairing your vehicle.  You pay for insurance so if you have an accident your insurance company will pay for the repair.  Their business is to accept the highest premiums you are willing to pay and settle on the lowest cost to repair your vehicle. Our business is to repair your vehicle to factory specifications and make sure you and your family are safe on the road.  We will work with every insurance company and offer Limited Lifetime Warranty.  We are happy use cost saving methods of repair as long as we can warranty repairs for life and know you and your family are safe.  Your insurance agent absolutely wants to secure your best interests.  They can yelp and you should discuss your accident before filing a claim!

Should you file a claim?

There are many factors in filing a claim.  Were you at fault? Was your car hit while parked? Was a police report filed? Did the other party file an insurance claim?  What is your deductible and what is the net impact of paying the deductible and increase in premiums as opposed to paying for the repairs?  Does the party at fault want to pay for repair themselves without a police report?
